Health Education England is committed to recruiting the best person for the job, based solely on their ability and individual merit as measured against the criteria for the role; through a process that is fair, open, consistent and free from discrimination. Health Education England supports the values and pledges of the NHS Constitution.
We are committed to being a diverse and an inclusive employer and will build a culture where all employees are valued, respected and acknowledged. We strive to ensure that no individual receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of their gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, religion or belief, colour, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, pregnancy and maternity, marital or civil partnership status, transgender status, HIV status, social background, trade union membership or non-membership and is placed at a disadvantage by requirements or conditions that cannot be shown to be justifiable.
The Graduate Management Trainee Scheme (GMTS) continues to be recognised as a desirable scheme. We are currently 7th in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers and we’ve been in the Top Ten of The Times Top 100 list every year since 2003. We are also ranked 7th in the Guardian’s annual survey of the top 300 most popular graduate employers. This is a positive message to support the expansion to 500 trainees in 2019/20.
To ensure the expansion programme mobilises at pace:
- A new project team (GMTS Expansion Programme) has been established which now meets weekly to drive progress;
- New infrastructure will provide increased capacity both to deliver the expansion and to increase national and local staffing structures to run a scheme approximately three times the size of the current scheme;
- The GMTS will be developed further to ensure it continues to provide an excellent experience for trainees.
- This new role will form a critical part of the expansion project team and will work with the workstreams identified as critical for delivery of the expansion programme.
The roles may suit short-term secondment or fixed-term contracts.
At role will require NHS HR experience at HR Manager level or above.
This role will provide an attractive development opportunity for individuals wishing to obtain national-level NHS experience. Prior knowledge of the GMTS will be an advantage and GMTS alumni may therefore find this opportunity to be of particular interest.
Key objectives will be to ensure that agreed deliverables set out in the GMTS expansion programme business case are delivered on time, to the appropriate quality whilst managing associated risks.
The Delivery Manager will need to engage with a large number of stakeholders from internal and external organisations to ensure the programme is delivered with a high level of stakeholder support with groups including NHS England, NHS Improvement, Public Health England, Department of Health.
The post holder will be based at the National Leadership Academy in Leeds or London, or one of the Local Leadership Academy offices across the country. There may be occasional local and national travel required.
For current NHS employees, this role may be offered on a secondment basis.
