Health Education England (HEE) exists for one reason only: to support the delivery of excellent healthcare and health improvement to the patients and public of England by ensuring that the workforce of today and tomorrow has the right numbers, skills, values and behaviours, at the right time and in the right place.
We are currently looking for a Head of HR (South) to join our nationwide HR&OD team. The content of the role reflects our ambition to offer excellent HR advisory services across HEE.
The Head of HR (South) will work in partnership with the Head of HR (North), reporting to the Director of HR & OD and will be accountable for leading the regional advisory teams, which are all led by HR Business Partners. A full structure chart, showing the level of responsibility, is provided in the job description.
They will be capable of leading multiple teams which cover the South of England and will be responsible for reviewing advisory working practices, influencing and driving continuous improvement to support organisational development and workforce development issues which – in turn – underpin the successful delivery of HEE’s business plans.
They will be responsible for designing and leading the delivery of innovative and business-focused advisory service, encouraging a culture that fosters high performance and engagement, embeds good people practices, and creates an environment that supports managers to develop a healthy and resilient workforce.
The post holder will work closely with other senior members of the HR&OD team to jointly deliver on shared objectives, working closely with the regional HR teams and all areas of the wider HR team to ensure HEE values, behaviours, policies and procedures are embedded and followed consistently across HEE.
The post holder should hold a Master’s degree in HR Management and/or have current and extensive experience of leading an operational HR service. They are required to hold Chartered status with CIPD. They should have demonstrable experience of successfully delivering a range of sustainable HR advisory services and have knowledge and experience that enables them to deputise for the Director of HR & OD when required.
The post holder would be located in an existing HEE office although they will be required to travel to other sites throughout England. Our relevant sites are in Birmingham, Leicester, Cambridge, London, Crawley, Winchester, Oxford and Bristol. Business travel expenses are payable in accordance with NHS terms and conditions.
The post is offered on a 12 month fixed term /secondment basis (dependent on whether the successful candidate is currently employed in the NHS). It is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) on NHS Terms and Conditions 2019 at NHS salary band 8c.
