IGPR Training Programme Director - West Midlands

Fixed term until March 2020

0.2 WTE or undertaken in conjunction with a conventional TPD post (0.1 WTE)

As part of HEEs contribution to the International GP Recruitment (IGPR) Scheme we are looking to recruit Programme Directors to provide Clinical educator support to the project within West Midlands.

In support of the General Practice Forward View (GPFV) commitments, NHS England (NHSE) is undertaking an International GP Recruitment Programme with a view to recruiting qualified GPs from the EEA and overseas countries. IGPR offers an intensive support to the Induction and Refresher route including education in the form of half day or whole day release. The doctors are placed in practices which may not be used to training. Therefore, both the doctors and the practices need support in receiving and giving quality education.

The postholder will be part of the educator team for the project, contributing to recruitment interviews, liaison regionally and nationally, developing local processes and most importantly providing an educational programme which familiarises the international GPs with the NHS and primary care in the UK and provides ongoing support as they settle into their new roles.

The role will require the postholder to:

      • Plan, facilitate and run educational modules for IGPRs
      • Take into account the individual and collective needs of the IGPRs within the programme when planning educational activities.
      • Use innovation to diversify the method of educational delivery – such as blended learning, IT, and simulation.
      • Integrate appropriate educational activities with other GP Education, as well as Primary Care professional training such as Pharmacy and Practice nursing.
      • Work in conjunction with Directors of Medical Education, clinical tutors and clinical supervisors in secondary care to facilitate experience in secondary care as appropriate

The base for the post will be the HEE offices in Birmingham.

Salary will be GP01 of the GP Educator Pay Scale.
