In April 2013 Health Education England (HEE) was created with one purpose: to help improve the quality of care delivered to patients by ensuring that our current and future workforce has the right numbers, skills, values and behaviours to meet their needs today and tomorrow. HEE's Midlands and East Regional office supports the delivery of HEE’s functions locally through bringing together education providers and health service providers to plan, train and develop the healthcare workforce. Our objective is to ensure that we have compassionate, knowledgeable and highly skilled people who have the education and training they need to keep the population well and deliver the best possible clinical outcomes for patients
Applications are invited for a Senior Quality Lead to complement the Quality and Commissioning Team for Health Education England’s Midlands and East team. This is a permanent full-time appointment. The post will be based at our Cambridge offices in Fulbourn, but with the expectation of agile working across Midlands and the East of England, occasional overnight stays and national travel for meetings and events.
The primary job purpose is to support the Head of Quality and Commissioning with the implementation of the HEE Quality Framework and management of commissioned education activity. The post holder will also be responsible for the management of the Quality and Commissioning Team in the East of England office and will lead the education commissioning function across Midlands & East supporting the delivery of recent education funding reforms. The ability to work autonomously and lead a team within a matrix structure will be essential to be effective in this post.
In this role you will be working with senior staff and stakeholders to ensure high quality education delivery. The post holder must have a good understanding of, and experience in, commissioning, relationship management, risk assessment and quality and performance management. A high level of communication and engagement skills and the ability to analyse complex facts, provide concise, accurate reports and develop appropriate recommendations is also key.
The post holder will be responsible for implementing the HEE Quality Framework across a range of stakeholder organisations and in leading the healthcare education commissioning workstream across the Midlands and East of England. They will develop and deliver a range of mandate and priority education and training commissions, contributing to contract management and commissioning of educational placements. They will also be allocated a budget with the expectation of good financial control and management of this.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and conscientious Senior Manager, which offers development opportunities and the ability to influence at a regional and national level. There will also be opportunities to participate in national pieces of work on behalf of the Midlands and East of England team. Good leadership, communication and engagement skills are essential in supporting both local office management and wider strategic leadership of these workstreams.
We are looking for someone with senior management experience in healthcare and education who is innovative, has a track record of working across boundaries, and can negotiate successfully. There is an expectation of working outwardly with healthcare and educational organisations around the Midlands and East of England.
