Fixed Term Contract (until 31st March 2021)
As part of the strategy to develop and integrate the NHS workforce and enhance multi-professional team working, Health Education England (HEE) is supporting an exciting and innovative programme to transform preregistration pharmacist training.
Building upon learning from the first pilot year we are extending and supporting an expanded programme in which preregistration pharmacists undertake an extended placement in a GP practice. GP and pharmacy sites have already been recruited nationally, with each partner site having identified a pharmacist to oversee the trainees in each setting.
The programme aims to provide trainees with a deep understanding of how practices operate, and how pharmacy can play an integral role in patient care, helping to create a workforce with an enhanced understanding across healthcare interfaces.
The successful applicant will be one of a number of regional facilitators, and will be expected to link effectively with the other regional post holders to report to the National Lead for the project. You will be based at the local HEE office in Fulbourne, Cambridge and will be expected to travel to multiple sites across the region with occasional travel to other regions.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual who can support the national expansion and embedding of the placements outlined above, by working with pharmacy and general practice providers across their region. You should have a passion for education, a sound understanding of community or hospital pharmacy and primary care, with experience of working as part of a multi-professional team and a track record of delivering projects to deadlines.
- To act as a local expert resource supporting GP practice and pharmacy partners to develop their local programmes.
- To act as the main HEE point of contact for local partners.
- To develop regional networks to provide peer support for GP and pharmacy partners.
- To support trainees, tutors and employers when the before and during the training period
- To participate in the national pre-registration pharmacist recruitment programme.
- To engage local pharmacy and GP providers who provide joint pre-registration posts outside of the HEE programme to meet HEE quality objectives.
- To promote the HEE Pre-registration Pharmacists into General Practice Programme with stakeholders regionally and nationally.
- To work closely with multiple stakeholders in identifying key steps to enable embedding of joint pre-registration posts in training programmes beyond the pilot phase
- To lead regionally on the monitoring and audit of posts for quality and consistency.
Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 8a with a full-time starting salary of
£44,606, with pay step increases as details below:
3 years: £46,331
4 years: £48,324
5 years: £50,819
