About the role: 


Health Education England working across Kent Surrey and Sussex is seeking to appoint to the regional post of Lead GP Training Programme Director to support delivery of the International GP Recruitment (IGPR) and Induction & Refresher (I&R) schemes. This is offered based on a fixed term (12 months) sessional employment contract with Health Education England for 2 sessions per week. The post will be accountable via the Head of GP School to the Primary Care Dean. 

The International GP recruitment scheme is a collaboration between NHS England, Health Education England and Localities to attract, recruit, support and retain GPs trained in Europe (EEA) countries or Australia to support the UK primary care workforce. The Scheme includes provision of an educational programme that enables GPs to be prepared for working in the NHS in addition to supporting the network of GP Educators in the practices participating in the scheme. 

The GP induction and Refresher Scheme is designed to provide a safe, supported and direct route for qualified GPs to return to or join NHS general practice in England. 

Experience of working with doctors qualified outside the UK is an important requisite for the role, as is experience supporting learners in need of additional support. 

Candidates invited to interview may be required to prepare and present a 5-minute presentation. If required, the subject of the presentation will be communicated after the shortlisting process. 

Applicants from within the NHS will be offered on a secondment basis only, agreement should be obtained from their employer prior to submitting the application.
