Health Education England (HEE) exists for one reason only: to support the delivery of excellent healthcare and health improvement to the patients and public of England by ensuring that the workforce of today and tomorrow has the right numbers, skills, values and behaviours, at the right time and in the right place.
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and innovative leader to help lead the finance and performance functions of HEE. He/she will lead the effective use and management of HEE’s annual budget of £4.8bn whilst performance managing the delivery of HEE’s priority programmes.
This is a key new role, reporting to the Chief Executive and being a member of HEE’s Board, and will require an experienced leader, who is outcomes focused with outstanding financial and performance management skills and a demonstrable track record of success in a complex organisation. You will be required to report on financial and performance management to the Board.
You will build strong working relationships both within and outside of the organisation, be an excellent communicator with experience in working with with NHS chief executives, ALB Directors, government officials and ministers. Using your high level leadership and influencing skills you will support the ongoing transformation of the organisation’s performance management approach in line with HEE’s overall strategy.
You will need all the attributes that a great Chief Operating Officer must possess but above all you should have a demonstrable passion for education and training as a driver and enabler of high quality healthcare.
This is a complex and demanding role and requires tact, diplomacy and resilience, but will nonetheless be very rewarding.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an NHS system leader. The successful applicant will be educated to degree level and possess a recognised accountancy qualification. Applicants will have substantial experience of management within the health sector, including financial and staff management experience.
