The Organisation

Health Education England has responsibility for ensuring high quality education and training is provided to all health professionals including the next generation of doctors, dentists and allied health professionals. It supports the “delivery of excellent healthcare and health improvement to the patients and public of England by ensuring that the workforce of today and tomorrow has the right numbers, skills, values and behaviours, at the right time and in the right place”.

To do this effectively and to ensure the best possible outcomes and experience for patients and people, we work closely with key stakeholders to ensure everything is driven by patient needs and by local healthcare providers.

The Healthcare Education Team at Health Education England is a fundamental part of the organisation, taking on the responsibility for the administrative support for recruitment, training, assessment and rotation of doctors and dentists in training across the whole of London and Kent, Surrey and Sussex, as well as sharing our expertise to support allied health professionals and the regional healthcare providers.

After a period of integration and restructuring, the team is now growing to enable us to deliver our key aims and commitments, offering support to doctors and dentists in training, the wider healthcare network and ultimately, patients.

The Role

The role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated self-starter to develop their skills and further their management career.

You will work across the Healthcare Education Team in an interesting and varied role, with key duties primarily focused on medical and dental functions, including supporting recruitment events, trainee doctor’s assessment processes, maintaining systems, specialised support activity, projects and liaising with a variety of stakeholders.

This role is located in the Planning, Performance and Resourcing Team. The role holder will be responsible for a variety of activities and projects, including Finance, Integrated Academic Training, Complaints and Data and Information governance. Along side managing a busy portfolio and leading a team, the role holder will be expected to support colleagues within Business Support, as well as the wider department.

You will have significant experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments, as well as operating in a politically sensitive environment. You will have a strong understanding of the complexities of the NHS and demonstrable experience in a healthcare environment. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are essential; You must be comfortable conversing with senior stakeholders, with high level influencing and negotiation skills, and an ability to motivate a team. You must be able to plan over short, medium and long-term time frames and be able to adjust plans and resources accordingly to align with strategic objectives.

You’ will be responsible for the day to day delivery of operational services, working within a friendly and supportive team, within an organisation that strongly encourages professional development.
