An opportunity has arisen to work as the Assistant Treasury Accountant in the Technical Accounts section of the Financial Systems team . The systems team exists to support the business of Health Education England managing over £4bn expenditure pa across England.
Reporting to the Treasury Accountant, the Assistant Treasury Accountant will assist with the financial control of the organisation including balance sheet management, annual accounts and audit. The role is a key member of the financial systems team and will perform financial accounting functions ensuring that HEE achieves its statutory responsibilities to the Secretary of State; through, accounting, standing orders, SFIs and accounts and DHSC / Cabinet Office requirements
You will be joining a friendly and diverse team and undertake a wide range of tasks with good opportunities for future development in a national organisation. This role would be an excellent opportunity to consolidate your existing skills and work towards obtaining a CCAB qualification.
Key tasks of the role include:
- Prepare financial accounting monitoring information for submission to the HEE Board and to the DHSC.
- Financial accounting activities and processes
- Control account reconciliation
- Ensure that the system underpins the work of management accounting staff
- Deputise for the Treasury Accountant in their absence
- Regular liaison and meetings with SBS (our outsourced ledger provider)
- First line contact for financial accounting queries and provision of advice from internal and external stakeholders. These queries will include Ledger systems, VAT, Balance Sheet transactions, payroll matters and audit queries.
Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 6 with a full-time starting salary of £30,401, with pay step increases as detailed below: After 2 years’ service: £33,176 After 5 years’ service £37,890
These salaries are offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and the HEE Pay Progression Policy and are subject to annual cost of living review.
