The West Midlands School of Surgery are inviting applications for a  Regional Lead Training Programme Director for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.

The successful applicant for this post will support the Postgraduate Dean and Head of School of Surgery in the co-ordination , delivery and direction of Trauma and Orthopaedic Training  in Health Education England across the West Midlands.

The programme currently has approximately 100 trainees across the West Midlands geography. The post would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced educational supervisor aiming to further develop their educational portfolio. 

The Training Programme Director will ensure that national standards determined by the Royal Colleges of Surgeons are adhered to and national and HEE policies in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery are implemented. 

It is expected that  Training Programme Directors continue in clinical practice while fulfilling the role. The post will be offered for 3 years in the first instance with satisfactory annual appraisal, with the option of extending for a further 3 years if mutually agreed.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of School, Postgraduate Dean and the Faculty Support Team to produce doctors who will strive for the highest standards of patient-centred care and commit themselves to a lifetime of professional development.
